Each row is a staging this name appears in the cast list of, read from the production record rather than from the person record. The person record names works instead, and a work cannot say which run somebody was in — that is how Elaine Stritch ends up filed under Show Boat 1927 when she was in the 1994 revival. No row here says what part was played, because no cast list records it.

  • Carry On Cowboy featured many of the series’ regulars – Sid James, Kenneth Williams, Jim Dale, Charles Hawtrey, Joan Sims, Peter Butterworth and Bernard Bresslaw among them – while O’Brien can be recognised clearly (in at least one moment) by eagle-eyed viewers, as an incredibly skinny American Indian, attacking a stage coach that is bein…ebooks/Bagnall, Rob/Still the Beast is Feeding_ 40 Years of Rocky Horror - Rob Bagnall & Phil Barden.txt
  • Jim Dale comes out of the British music-hall tradition, and he not only sings and dances, he can play the clown, ride a unicycle, walk a tightrope, perform magic acts. • Jim Dale has the greatest facility with his body, but there are a lot of physical people. He has that something else. Chita Rivera has it; Gwen Verdon has it. • Of all the lessons I have learned from colleagues, I will never forget Jim Dale’s professional attitude when playing Fagin in Oliver! He was always doing something to lift the role, with no two performances the same. It was electrifying playing Nancy opposite him. What this page does not know

  • What this person played. No cast list we hold records a character against a performer.
  • Which of the credits above the roles on this record — actor — apply to. The roles sit on the person and never on a credit, so a director who also acted looks the same here as one who did not.
