Of the 175 productions we hold that opened in the 2020s and record a performance count, this is the 67th longest. That is a rank within what we hold, not within everything that was staged.

Who was in it20 named

Wendi Bergamini
Giovanni Bonaventura
Kristine Covillo
Ashley Blair Fitzgerald
Stephen Hanna
Naomi Kakuk
Benjamin Rivera
Jeff Williams

12 of these 20 names have a person record behind them and link to one. The other 8 are set from the identifier in the cast list, which is a slug of the name — so hyphens and full stops are lost and a few come out wrong. We hold nothing else about them. Nobody here is matched to a character: the cast list records who was in the company and not what they played.

Characters9 roles recorded

Colton Ryan Jimmy Doyle
Anna Uzele Francine Evans
Clyde Alves Tommy Caggiano
John Clay III Jesse Webb
Janet Dacal Sofia Diaz
Ben Davis Gordon Kendrick
Oliver Prose Alex Mann
Angel Sigala Mateo Diaz
Emily Skinner Madame Constance Veltri

Only 512 of 13,459 productions carry role names, and these came out of a wiki table — the names arrived with the table's own cell markup on them and have been stripped back. They are not linked to person records because the identifiers in that table do not resolve to ours.

A producer is one string on this record, however many people or companies it names. Directors and choreographers are held both as text and as identifiers; where an identifier exists the name links to a page.

Around this production

New York, New York is a musical with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and Lin-Manuel Miranda, and a book by David Thompson and Sharon Washington. Inspired by and loosely based on the 1977 film of the same name by Martin Scorsese, the musical premiered on Broadway on April 26, 2023. Despite receiving mixed to mostly dismal reviews and becoming a commercial disappointment, the Broadway production, directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, received nine nominations at the 76th Tony Awards, including Best Musical, winning one award for Best Scenic Design in a Musical.
