16 of these 55 names have a person record behind them and link to one. The other 39 are set from the identifier in the cast list, which is a slug of the name — so hyphens and full stops are lost and a few come out wrong. We hold nothing else about them. Nobody here is matched to a character: the cast list records who was in the company and not what they played.

Only 512 of 13,459 productions carry role names, and these came out of a wiki table — the names arrived with the table's own cell markup on them and have been stripped back. They are not linked to person records because the identifiers in that table do not resolve to ours.

Around this production

Spamalot (also known as Monty Python's Spamalot: A New Musical (Lovingly) Ripped Off from the Motion Picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail) is a musical with music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, and lyrics and a book by Idle. Based on the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical offers a highly irreverent parody of Arthurian legend, with the title being a portmanteau of Spam and Camelot. The original 2005 Broadway production directed by Mike Nichols received 14 Tony Award nominations, winning in three categories, including Best Musical. During its initial run of 1,575 performances, the production was seen by more than two million people and grossed over $168 million. Tim Curr…

Memorable Opening Night Note: The one that Spamalot sent us was hilarious. It was a big piece of oaktag with a picture of Mark Twain in the middle and many Spam-related Mark Twain items, like a copy of “Spam and Old Times on the Mississippi.” It was addressed, “To Hal and Company...OK, just Hal. Have a magnificent opening.” The Playbill Broadway Yearbook June 1 2005 May 31 2006 Viagas Robert Second Annu, p. 256
