Aboard an ocean liner bound for England, nightclub singer Reno Sweeney helps her lovesick friend Billy Crocker stow away to pursue the debutante he adores, who is unfortunately engaged to a stuffy English lord. With the help of Public Enemy Number 13 disguised as a minister, the passengers navigate mistaken identities, romantic mix-ups, and a whole lot of Cole Porter songs on the high seas.
