In a Depression-era setting inspired by Greek mythology, young dreamer Orpheus falls in love with the pragmatic Eurydice. When Eurydice follows the wealthy industrialist king Hades down to his underground factory-kingdom of Hadestown to escape poverty and winter, Orpheus must journey to the underworld and use nothing but his voice and his song to try to bring her back to the world above.
