In 1950s Manhattan, powerful newspaper columnist J.J. Hunsecker controls careers and destroys reputations from his regular table at 21 Club. When his beloved sister Susan falls for jazz guitarist Dallas, Hunsecker recruits desperate press agent Sidney Falco to break up the romance, setting in motion a toxic web of manipulation, betrayal, and corruption in the dark underbelly of celebrity culture.
