Sisters Ruth and Eileen Sherwood leave Ohio for Greenwich Village to pursue their dreams — Ruth as a writer and Eileen as an actress. In their seedy basement apartment, they encounter a parade of colorful New Yorkers including a handsome magazine editor, a conga-dancing Brazilian naval cadet, and a gang of Irish cops, learning that making it in the big city takes talent, charm, and sisterly solidarity.
