Of the 426 productions we hold that opened in the 2010s and record a performance count, this is the 3rd longest. That is a rank within what we hold, not within everything that was staged.

No closing date. 5,632 of 13,459 productions have none, and at this distance that means the ending was never recorded rather than that the run went on.

28 of these 99 names have a person record behind them and link to one. The other 71 are set from the identifier in the cast list, which is a slug of the name — so hyphens and full stops are lost and a few come out wrong. We hold nothing else about them. Nobody here is matched to a character: the cast list records who was in the company and not what they played.

Only 512 of 13,459 productions carry role names, and these came out of a wiki table — the names arrived with the table's own cell markup on them and have been stripped back. They are not linked to person records because the identifiers in that table do not resolve to ours.

A producer is one string on this record, however many people or companies it names. Directors and choreographers are held both as text and as identifiers; where an identifier exists the name links to a page.

Around this production

Hamilton: An American Musical, known colloquially as Hamilton, is a sung-and-rapped-through biographical musical with music, lyrics, and a book by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Based on the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, the musical covers the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton and his involvement in the American Revolution and the political history of the early United States. Composed from 2008 to 2015, the music draws heavily from hip hop, as well as R&B, pop, soul, and traditional-style show tunes. It casts non-white actors as the Founding Fathers of the United States and other historical figures. Miranda described Hamilton as about "America then, as told by Amer…

'The room where it happened,' he snarls. Beneath the red, white, and blue bunting is a green-eyed monster.

In 2016, Hamilton set the melody of its opening number to rap lyrics about Sweeney Todd, played by Lin-Manuel Miranda himself. The show’s bonnet was a Revolutionary War tricolor bisected by a generous triangular slice of brown pie (which presumably did not come from a little priest).
